Universal Health-care:Fix the health-care industry first or Ram the socialist premiums down our throats first? | |
Before forcing me,and every other American to pay for universal health-care and further enrich the heath-care industry, wouldn't it make more fiscal sense to clean up the health-care industry first and then see if a universal health-care plan is really needed?
FYI: just had major back surgery.Had I been un-insured,bill would've been $66,000.00.Total cost negotiated by insurance company was about $2900.00,my co-pay was $305.00.Something is terribly wrong when the difference between the un-insured bill and the covered by insurance bill is $62,795.00.
Answers:
1Amen! Sense being spoken at last. You have hit the nail on the head--the government's excessive involvement and the domination of the handful of insurers are what cause the problems. That the free market works is proven by the fact that where the third-party payers (and corruption from them of all sound principles) are not the norm, care is affordable and acessible:
LASIK
plastic surgery

walk-in clinics at Wal-Mart, CVS, grocery stores, etc.
You might want to check the PDF out here (and the book's chapter on health care is huge, supports your accurate assessment, and also offers ways to improve the current system):
