I have to write a paper and do a presentation in my healthcare law class. I dont work in the healthcare field yet so Im not too familiar with laws or regulations. Can anyone give me topics that I can research ? I just have to find a law that pertains to the healthcare industry that needs to be changed to make healthcare better. There are really no limitations on topics, just has to apply to healthcare in some way.

1Abuse of the medicare and medicade sysytem. I see it every day. People come in to my ER either as patients themselves or with their kids in 100.00 outfits, carrying their fancy cell phones but want the doctor to prescribe just certain medications that their medicare will cover. They do not want to have to pay for medications. Most do not mind paying for cigarettes, however. Some people obtain medicare through disability but are able to go shopping for hours at a time and able to come to the ER twice a week to obtain pain pills or sedatives. I have been an RN for many years and it is getting worse and worse. People with private insurance are left to pay for all that Medicare did not with increased premiums. Any doctor in any private practice or any ER in this country will agree with me.
